from our secretary general
Fellow delegates, distinguished chairs, and MUN directors,
I am pleased to welcome you to ISPPMUN 2019, Giving Youth a Voice. For the past 8 years, ISPPMUN has been a model conference for illuminating debates and collaboration for youth, and this year will be no different. In a current global climate filled with uncertainty and fear for the future, it is the youth who are and will be the leaders for action. Climate Change, Brexit– questions and worries about the future of Southeast Asia, for many of us serves as our dear homes, these are all issues in which the most prominent impact will be for us: the youth. For ISPPMUN 2019, we want to allow the youth to realize their potential and speak about issues that are most pressing to us. With the inclusion of a new council, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), we encourage delegates to explore their own perspectives and experiences, and by tackling global issues, help foster change within their local homes and communities. Having been a delegate, a chair, and now, a part of the secretariat team for ISPPMUN for over 4 years, it would be an understatement to say that MUN has been vital to my development as not only a student, but also a global citizen and diplomat. From both the organizing committee and I, we sincerely hope that you are able to thoroughly enjoy your experience at ISPPMUN 2019. Angela Wei Secretary General ISPPMUN 2019 |
